چکیده

The study describes a rare clinical case of synovial chondromatosis of the temporo-mandibular joint, in a 53 year-old patient. In the prehospital stage, the patient was examined by additional diagnostic methods – 3D CT and subsequent computer simulation, in view of subsequent surgery. In January 2015, partial synovektomy of the right temporo-mandibular joint with removal of cartilaginous impurities was performed under general anesthesia. After histopathological confirmation of the clinical diagnosis, the patient was discharged in satisfactory condition, with recommendations for further examination and radiological control. Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint is a disease characterized by impaired formation of cartilage or of intraarticular, cartilaginous, and relatively rare bone impurities. An important role in the diagnosis of joints’ synovial chondromatosis is played by the instrumental research methods, especially X-ray. Surgical treatment is recommended as a function of the prevalence of lesions.

Arthroscopic treatment of synovial chondromatosis of the shoulder joint: case report and review

Abstract Two cases (20 and 15 years old) of shoulder joint synovial chondromatosis were initially treated with arthroscopic debridement. One was further treated with a second arthroscopy and partial synovectomy (case 1) the second was fully treated by arthroscopic surgery (case 2). The postoperative control X- ray revealed no loose body and the joint was normal. One of the cases (case 1) was a...

Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty for the Treatment Of Synovial Chondromatosis: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Synovial chondromatosis affecting the glenohumeral joint is rare. Treatment primarily consists of arthroscopic loose body removal and synovectomy. Shoulder arthroplasty has been mentioned in the literature as a treatment option for patients with coexisting arthritis, although the results have been underreported. The case of an 84-year-old man with long standing synovial chondromatosis of the sh...

Temporomandibular joint synovial chondromatosis.

Synovial chondromatosis (SC) is a rare, benign cartilaginous metaplasia that affects the joints, usually only one joint. Chondromatosis is a hard to diagnose disease because of its somewhat vague symptoms, especially those in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which does not fit those from the most prevalent disease sites (knee, elbow and shoulder). There is only one case of TMJ chondromatosis ...

Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint: long-term postoperative follow-up of the residual calcification.

Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint is a rare disease, and extra-articular synovial condromatosis of the temporomandibular joint is even rarer. A review of the English literature from 1980 to 2000 has revealed 51 cases of synovial chondromatosis affecting the temporomandibular joint. We report a case of extra-articular synovial condromatosis, for which we carried out a long-t...

A Case Report of Synovial Chondromatosis of the Knee Joint arising from the Marginal Synovium

INTRODUCTION Synovial chondromatosis is a rare benign condition arising from the synovial membrane of the joints, synovial sheaths or bursae around the joints. Primary synovial chondromatosis typically affects the large joints in the third to fifth decade of life, although involvement of smaller joints and presentation in younger age group is also documented. The purpose of this case report is ...
